Knife gate valve adopts a blade gate plate, compact structure, wear-resistant, and clog-resistant, designed for fast cutting off particles or viscous media. The gate valve is mostly a wedge-shaped seal, which is suitable for flow regulation and stable throttling of clean fluid.
The overall size of the knife gate valve is large, and sufficient operating space should be reserved when opening. The installation is limited to a small environment. The valve plate movement speed is slow, manual operation requires a large torque. Long-term friction of the sealing surface can easily produce erosion and scratches, resulting in an increased risk of leakage, a short maintenance period, and high repair difficulty. It is only suitable for the fully open or fully closed state, and has weak flow regulation ability. It is not suitable for scenarios requiring fine control of the medium.
Aging of the material, scratches, or deformation of the sealing surface can lead to leakage.
The replacement of the knife gate valve should be comprehensively evaluated according to working medium, operating frequency, and cost. Globe valves and ball valves are suitable for low-pressure conventional scenarios, while complex conditions such as high temperature and containing solid media, still rely on the unique performance of knife gate valves.
